Woman dies in accident on Warm Springs Road

A sports car driver is being blamed for another motorist's death after cutting across evening traffic in a southeast Las Vegas neighborhood.
Lillian Eisner, 69, was westbound on Warm Springs Road at 6:05 p.m. Sunday when she attempted to turn left onto Amigo Street and slammed into an eastbound Jeep, said Metro Police traffic Sgt. Frank Weigand.
The Jeep, which had the right of way, spun around and flipped onto its driver's side, ejecting the unidentified driver, who died on the pavement from a fractured skull, Weigand said.
The impact knocked the hard shell top off the Jeep and sent Eisner's red Mazda Miata spinning in the intersection, police said. Paramedics transported the woman to University Medical Center, where she was listed in serious but stable condition with a broken leg and other injuries.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending, although "it appears that the Mazda was at fault," Weigand said.
Four witnesses told police they saw the Mazda cut in front of the oncoming Jeep, Weigand said.
"They need to put in a stoplight here, or at least make the intersection a four-way stop," said Bonita Riley, one of several residents who commented that serious accidents are becoming commonplace in their rapidly growing southeast neighborhood.
The only stop signs in the Amigo-Warm Springs intersection are on Amigo. The speed limit on Warm Springs is 45 mph.
"When we moved out here about 9 1/2 years ago, there was nothing out here," Riley said. "This area has grown so much, especially now that the freeway (Interstate 215) exits on Warm Springs. You see cars doing 60 or 70 mph, easily. About a month ago, I saw someone thrown through the windshield up on Bermuda Road (about a quarter mile away). These roads are really getting dangerous."
