Abduction, beating suspect surrenders

Monday, Sept. 30, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

A man accused of beating and stabbing the mother of his children has turned himself in to police.

Noel Erispe Medrano, 22, was taken into custody by North Las Vegas Police about 7 a.m. Sunday.

"Medrano (was) feeling remorse for his actions," said Detective James Jackson.

Medrano remains in the North Las Vegas Detention Center without bail and is set to appear Tuesday in North Las Vegas Justice Court to answer to an attempted murder charge.

Machelle Frazier, 25, was listed in serious but stable condition at University Medical Center with knife wounds to her head and face.

Frazier and her children, ages 2, 4 and 5, were inside their apartment at 1928 Princeton St. when Medrano allegedly came to the home and began attacking the woman about 6:20 a.m. Saturday while four accomplices took Frazier's children. The children are now staying with relatives.

The group was seen leaving the neighborhood with the children in a yellow Ford LTD, a description of which was provided to California authorities after investigators learned the group could be headed to Earlimart, Calif.

Police are still looking for four other suspects in the case: Lilia Arreola Ojeda, 47, 190 pounds, black hair, brown eyes; Lydia Ojeda; Juan Ramos; and a 15-year-old Hispanic juvenile.

Anyone with information on the suspects' whereabouts is asked to call detectives at 649-9111 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
