Police Ask for Public’s Help in Shakur’s Shooting

Saturday, Sept. 28, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

Citing a lack of cooperation from Shakur's entourage and the failure of Shakur's family to offer a sizeable reward in the case, police said Friday they hope witnesses to the shooting will come forward.

Shakur was shot following a Sept. 7 boxing match as he sat in a car with Marion "Suge" Knight, chief executive officer of Death Row Records at Flamingo and Koval. Shakur died six days later. Knight suffered a minor gunshot wound.

Police said they have interviewed everyone in Shakur's massive entourage and have few leads.

"Some of the persons interviewed who were in the entourage the night of the murder brought attorneys with them during their interview," Lt. Larry Spinosa said. "As many as three attorneys at one time showed up to assist a client during a normally non-intrusive interview."

Police are still looking for a new Cadillac that was seen heading south on Koval Lane.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (702) 229-3521 or (702) 385-5555. Callers will be eligible for a $1,000 reward, and all calls will be returned.
