Frank Kennedy, a Korean War combat veteran and Las Vegas resident, won a silver medal in croquet at the 10th Annual National Veterans Golden Age Games in Riverside, Calif.
The games, held last week, were open to athletes 55 and older who are receiving inpatient or outpatient care at VA medical centers. About 400 veterans competed in six age groups.
Kennedy, 60, was competing in the games for the fourth consecutive year. He won a bronze medal in the 25-yard freestyle swim at the 1995 games. The Army veteran also competed this year in ambulatory billiards, golf and shuffleboard.
Roger Slocum, a 62-year-old Air Force veteran of the Korean War, also representing Las Vegas, competed in ambulatory billiards, croquet, checkers and the half-mile bicycle race.
