Also on Saturday, the center will present a retreat from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., which will include mediation and discussion led by Robert Moore, a guiding teacher for six West Coast Zen centers and professor of music at the University of Southern California.
The new Zen center is part of the international Kwan Um School of Zen, founded by Korean Zen Master Seung Sahn. The school has affiliated centers in Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, North America and South America.
The fee for Saturday's activities, including a vegetarian lunch and dinner is $30 for members of the Kwan Um School of Zen and $40 for nonmembers.
Weekly practice meetings at the new center are on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m and Sundays from 9:15 to 11 a.m.
