Recount asked in Churchill commission race
Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
Walter "Butch" Christie got 725 votes, or 30.1 percent of the total to Lonnie Moore's 1,681, or 69.9 percent.
Christie says the test run on the computer counting the ballots was performed incorrectly. Churchill County Clerk Ruby Anderson told commissioners the verification and accurate testing of the computer was completed Tuesday night.
Christie said he would ask commissioners at their Sept. 19 meeting to invalidate the vote and call for a new primary or let all four candidates run in the general election, the Lahontan Valley News and Fallon Eagle Standard reported.
Democrat incumbent Jim Regan was unopposed in the primary, as was independent candidate Jim Jacobs.
