Driving mistake turns fatal

Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

A man who was killed in an auto accident is being blamed for failing to yield to traffic by pulling out in front of an oncoming car on Lake Mead Drive in Henderson.

Investigators have determined that the man, who was driving a 1992 Toyota, failed to yield from the access road south of Lake Mead Drive and pulled in front of eastbound traffic about 9:50 a.m. Monday, Henderson Police said.

A 1992 Ford Thunderbird traveling east in the left lane tried to stop but was unable to avoid the collision, striking the Toyota driver's door, police said.

The Toyota's driver was transported to St. Rose Dominican Hospital where he later died. His name has been withheld pending notification of his family. Three of the Thunderbird's passengers were also taken to St. Rose, but its driver escaped injury, police said.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call Henderson Police at 565-2009 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
