Sub sandwiches find port with Lake Mead changes

Monday, Sept. 9, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

Visitors to Lake Mead National Recreational Area will notice several new amenities.

Boulder Beach now has a Port of Subs sandwich shop that will be open on weekends and holidays. It replaces the old Boulder Beach store that closed several years ago.

Jet Skis may be rented at Lake Mead, Echo Bay, and Temple Bar marinas as well as a new location at Callville Bay Marina.

The Desert Princess tour boat has a new dock and rental office, 3 1/2 miles off U.S. 93 on Lakeshore Road in the recreation area. New dock facilities constructed at Hoover Dam offer the possibility for round-trip or one-way cruises with the opportunity to visit the dam as a bonus.

The sale of the northernmost marina at Overton Beach brings another new face to the recreation area. The property is now being operated by Ron Pratte of Overton Beach Resort Inc. of Las Vegas. General Manager Paul Chandler III moved up the river from the Echo Bay Resort to direct operations.

For more information about Lake Mead or Lake Mohave, contact the National Park Service at (702) 293-8990 daily between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or stop by the Alan Bible Visitor Center, four miles northeast of Boulder City, just off U.S. 93.
