Soroptimist scholarships

The four area Soroptimist Clubs are accepting applications for their Youth Citizenship Award and Training Awards Program.

YCA is given to eight juniors or seniors from any accredited high school or its equivalent. Students must have fulfilled the following during high school years: service, dependability, leadership and clear sense of purpose.

Four recipients will receive cash awards and are eligible for Soroptimist's regional and federation-level awards.

The Soroptimist Foundations Youth Citizenship Awards are not scholarships but "awards of merit." Each award may be used at the discretion of the recipient to further his goals.

Recipients are chosen on the basis of financial need and a clear statement of career goals, with primary consideration given to women entering vocational or technical programs, or completing an undergraduate degree.

Four recipients will receive cash awards and are eligible for regional and federation-level awards.

Applications are available by calling SI of Greater Las Vegas at 362-7666. The application deadline is Dec. 15.
