Teen arrested in double slaying over weekend

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

A 16-year-old boy was called out of class at Cimarron-Memorial High School and arrested in the double slaying of a couple at an apartment last weekend.

Jason Alexander Taylor was in the Clark County Detention Center today, charged with two counts of murder with use of a deadly weapon.

He was arrested without incident in a school administrator's office Tuesday at 2301 Tenaya Way and later questioned by police investigators.

Lori Anne Montori, 31, died Monday at University Medical Center, where she was taken after the Saturday afternoon shooting.

Her boyfriend, 26-year-old John Christopher Person, had been pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers were called to the apartment at 4800 E. Tropicana Ave., near Mountain Vista Road, by neighbors reporting that they heard a fight.

Police said they obtained a search warrant to comb the ransacked apartment for clues to who may have committed the slayings.

Asked whether the victims knew their killer, Metro homicide Sgt. Ken Hefner said "there is some relationship between the parties," but declined to comment further.

Police believe robbery was the motive.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, Hefner declined to comment on whether Taylor had prior arrests.

Hefner would not comment on the type of gun used in the slayings or whether police had recovered a weapon they believe was used.
