L.A. Gang Member Guilty of Masterminding Casino Robbery

A federal court jury deliberated 90 minutes Tuesday before convicting Chet Govan on five felony counts in connection with the April 1994 holdup that netted $97,000.
Five others who participated in the holdup have pleaded guilty to the crime and four have been sentenced to prison.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tom O'Connell said Govan and four of the robbers were members of the Crips gang in Los Angeles.
U.S. District Judge Philip Pro set sentencing for Feb. 6.
Govan was charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by threats or violence, interference with commerce, use of firearms in a crime of violence, conspiracy to launder money and money laundering.
