Shanghai troupe in Rio show
Monday, Oct. 28, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
The Chinese students will do an hour-long show featuring both traditional and modern Chinese dance. There are 20 Chinese performers, ranging in age from 10 to 19.
Additionally, Dream Tour USA, a group of local high school students who toured and performed in China in July, will perform several singing and dancing numbers from their popular American music revue prior to the Chinese show.
Tickets are available for the free show by calling the Rio's International Marketing office at 247-7814 or the Las Vegas International Performing Exchange at 798-5906.
The concert is being presented by the Las Vegas International Performing Exchange, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to exchanging the talents and skills of performing arts students between Las Vegas and foreign countries. Preferred Equities Corporation, a Las Vegas-based interval resort and land developer, is the LVIPE's major sponsor.
The Chinese students have been visiting Las Vegas for the past week. During their stay, they will have toured various local attractions and give several performances for elementary school students.
Additionally, a farewell dinner for the students at Chin's in the Fashion Show Mall will be 7 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets for this event are $50 per person. Call 798-5906 for information.
