Berkley, Guinn honored by UNLV

A university regent and a recent UNLV interim president have received awards from UNLV.

Regent Shelley Berkley, a former member of the UNLV Alumni Association board of directors, has been named Outstanding Alumnus. Kenny Guinn, who served as interim president in 1994-95, received the Silver State Award, given annually to a nonalumnus who has made outstanding contributions to the university.

A past UNLV student body president, Berkley is a donor to the scholarship fund and a voluntary legal counsel to UNLV's student government.

A former Clark County School District superintendent, Guinn was chairman of the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees from 1993-94. He formerly ran Southwest Gas Corp. and PriMerit Bank.
