State Pyramid Case Tactics Questioned
Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
James Rogers, president of the Las Vegas chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said he has "serious questions regarding the objectivity and fairness of the office."
Rogers alleged the office publicly named black targets in lawsuits and failed to reveal the identifies of participants who weren't black.
Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa said the claims were "untrue, irresponsible and unfortunate."
Richard Linstrom, a deputy attorney general, added that race "is just not an issue with us. We've sued roughly 50 people and we don't know the racial backgrounds ... Unless they've come into the office to do settlement agreements, we haven't even seen them."
