Letter: Gun safety meeting was turned into political lecture

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

He did say that the re-election of President Clinton would mean the end of the United States as we know it. He said that President Clinton was planning to turn all U.S. armed forces over to the U.N. He also repeated the statement by the president of the NRA that FBI agents are jackbooted thugs. To that, he added, and so are our local police.

Dickerson made other similar statements in which he has a right to believe, but which have no place in a meeting of a nonpolitical organization held in a Sun City facility.

Dickerson fooled the shooters' club into inviting him to speak on one subject and used the opportunity to air his own political beliefs.

When a complaint was registered with the Sun City administration, they brushed it off. Evidently, they agree with Dickerson's statements.
