The Taj Mahal of budget books is now available to the public.

Clark County has printed up its 1996-97 budget for general consumption, and it's a doozy: 494 printed pages on thick stock paper with nine pages of glossy photos of the Clark County Government Center.

Coincidentally, that's where the "1996-97 Clark County Budget: a Program and Financial Plan" can be picked up, for free, at 500 Grand Central Parkway.

Also available is a pocket-sized, fast-facts book on the 96-97 budget, for those who don't have time to thumb through the full-sized budget.

Total cost for 350 copies was $10,248, according to the county finance department.

It should come as no surprise that the county wins awards for its budget document from the Government Finance Officers Association, as noted inside the title page.
