St. Clair Shores City Attorney Sued Over Casino Bill

The suit, filed by Hilton Gaming Corp. in Clark County, seeks $5,812. It says Ihrie already has repaid $14,188.
"We're in the process of resolving that. I had a dispute with them," Ihrie told The Detroit News in a report published Wednesday.
Hilton Gaming is one of three corporations that operate the Windsor Casino in Windsor, Ontario, and the nearby Northern Belle riverboat casino on the Detroit River.
A Canadian company earlier this year announced plans to run 67-passenger hydrofoil boats between St. Clair Shores' Jefferson Beach Marina and the two Windsor casinos.
St. Clair Shores Mayor Curt Dumas is harbor master of the privately owned Jefferson Beach Marina. In a recent opinion presented to the City Council, Ihrie said Dumas could vote on issues concerning Jefferson Beach.
Ihrie said his debt to Hilton does not prevent him from offering legal opinions concerning the proposed ferry service to the Hilton-run casinos.
"I haven't seen any plans," he said. "I would have to address that situation when it comes."
Ihrie drew national attention this year for prosecuting a couple under St. Clair Shores' parental-responsibility ordinance.
