Missing Pregnant Woman Found in City Detention Under Name of ‘Jane Doe’
Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
Mong Khanh-Thi Nguyen, 26, had not been seen since leaving for an evening walk Oct. 10. Her boyfriend, with whom she resides, and her mother and stepfather reported her missing and told police she had been treated for mental disorders in the past.
Nguyen moved to the United States in January 1996, is five months pregnant and speaks no English.
Lt. Brad Simpson said she was found wandering in and out of traffic Oct. 10, but police didn't know who she was and were unable to get her to tell them.
"I think there were some issues with her mental condition or some communication problem - although we have a bank of interpreters available - because she curled up in a fetal position and didn't talk," Simpson said.
