Fishing Report

Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

* LAKE MEAD -- Striped bass fishing tapered off over the weekend, but is now beginning to improve. Boaters report that boils are taking place as stripers are actively feeding on the surface. Even so, most of the boils have been small and short in duration. Some of the better action for stripers has been taking place at Hatchery Cove, Black Island, Hemenway Harbor, Pyramid Island, Government Wash and the tires at Las Vegas Bay Marina. Very little success is now being found in the Callville Bay area. Some of the bigger fish that are now being caught are coming to boaters using downriggers. Shore anglers are having fairly good success by rapidly cranking Sassy Shad lures.
