A booth will be set up Saturday at the Meadows Mall to take applications for property tax exemptions from veterans, widows and the blind.
Clark County Assessor Mark Schofield and his staff will be on hand to assist people with the applications that can reduce real property taxes, mobile home taxes or the privilege tax on vehicle registration fees by $25-$50 annually.
To qualify, veterans must have served in any of the following war periods: April 6, 1917-Nov. 11, 1918; Dec. 7, 1941-Dec. 31, 1946; June 25, 1950-Jan. 31, 1955; Jan. 1, 1961-May 7, 1975; or in the Persian Gulf War. They should bring a copy of their discharge papers, Schofield said.
Widows should bring a copy of their husband's death certificate. Blind people should call 455-3882 for details. First-time applicants are required to provide proof of six-month residency in Clark County.
Residents also can file for the exemption program at the assessor's office, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
