Five names join fire memorial
Monday, Oct. 14, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
Thirty-five names now are listed on the memorial after Saturday's program.
Four of the honorees, all with the Bureau of Land Management, were killed in a July 1980 plane crash.
Pilot Farrell Gale and firefighters Todd Harrison, Daniel Hase and Joe Bass were en route to a wildland fire when the crash occurred.
The other honoree was John Dorff, a veteran of the state fire marshal's office who died of cancer in June 1995. It's believed exposure to hazardous materials while inspecting fires contributed to the cancer.
