Authorities anticipate making more arrests in the wake of a weekend bust that put eight people behind bars for alleged ties to a local drug-distribution ring.
The arrests culminate a two-month investigation by agents and officers from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, Metro Police and Nevada Division of Investigations into a street gang that authorities say "controls" the area around 21st Street and Sunrise Avenue.
Keith Baudoin, assistant special agent in charge of the DEA's Las Vegas office, said search warrants were served at six locations and additional federal and state warrants were served on individuals he said were "key members of this gang."
Rafael Carillo, 18, Rudy Castro, 20, and Felix Ramirez, 23, all of Las Vegas, were arrested on charges of distributing controlled substances, including cocaine, rock cocaine and methamphetamine. Three other adults and two juveniles whose names were not released were also arrested on narcotics charges.
