Medical examiner must ID skeleton found near lake
Monday, Nov. 25, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
Investigators are hoping tests by the medical examiner will determine what killed an unidentified person whose skeleton was found in a wash near Lake Mead.
Three women found the remains Saturday afternoon while hiking in an area north of Lake Mead Boulevard, about 100 yards north of the entrance sign to Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
The women notified Metro Police, who in turn contacted National Park Service investigators because the bones were within their jurisdiction. The two agencies will team up for the investigation.
Authorities believe the skeleton had been in the area six to eight months.
