Brothers accused of knifing boy in Henderson park

Monday, Nov. 25, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

Two Henderson brothers have been accused in the late-night knifing of a 16-year-old boy in Morrell Park.

The victim was among six people who had gathered in the park about 11:35 p.m. Saturday when Carlos Miranda, 25, and two others walked up and began verbally harassing them, police said.

Witnesses identified Miranda as the one who pulled out a knife and stabbed the boy and his friends as they attempted to run away, said Henderson Police Lt. Ron Delia.

The victim drove himself to St. Rose Dominican Hospital for help, Delia said. He was listed in stable condition.

Police have not commented on a motive for the fight, and have withheld the victim's name because he is a minor.

Miranda was charged with attempted murder and booked into the Henderson Detention Center. His brother, Luis Miranda, 18, was charged with accessory to attempted homicide. A 16-year-old boy who was with the brothers has not been charged.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call investigators at 565-2009 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
