Eleven more people have been indicted in Las Vegas in connection with a nationwide scheme to promote the stock of some telecommunication service companies by allegedly bribing stockbrokers and stock promoters.
A federal judge unsealed a 17-count indictment Thursday that charges two Nevadans and nine other businessmen and women of securities fraud, wire fraud and money laundering.
The federal charges came on the heels of Wednesday's two indictments that accused 19 people of being part of a conspiracy to sell Teletek Inc. and United Payphone Services Inc. stock illegally.
Thursday's indictment is similar. California and Nevada stockbrokers are charged with participating in a crime ring that paid brokers cash or stock in return for them recommending Teletek, United Payphone and Enrotek stock to their clients.
The companies either are headquartered in Nevada or do business here.
The defendants' named in the third indictment are Jay W. Nance and Antonio Campos, both of Nevada, and Shelia F. Fox, Trent Gribben, John W. Lane, Terry L. Lewis, John McConkie, Steven Trapp, Kelsey Vandeventer, Richard Goodrich and Douglas Diggins, all of California.
