Metro Police have released the names of two officers involved in a weekend shooting that left an 18-year-old man with a bullet wound to his left foot.
James Breed, 28, and Sean Scott, 27, have been with the department since 1992 and are assigned to Metro's southeast area command.
The officers had responded to the 3600 block of Cambridge Street, near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road, about 10:30 p.m. Sunday when they spotted two men reported by neighbors as suspicious, said Lt. Larry Spinosa.
The two took off in different directions.
A 17-year-old boy whose name was not released was caught by police about a block away.
Officers found his friend hiding in the stairwell of the Mulberry Hollow Apartments with a gun in his hand, Spinosa said.
Marvin Lamar Smith, 18, attempted to run away and ignored officers' commands to stop. Police have not specified which officer fired two rounds at Smith when he twice allegedly appeared to reach for a weapon during the foot pursuit.
Smith was unarmed when he was hit in the left foot by the second bullet, Spinosa said.
His handgun was found lying near the apartment stairwell.
Smith and the 17-year-old face felony charges of obstructing an officer. Smith, who was released Tuesday from University Medical Center, is also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
