Abusive language on TV profanes the entire society

The subtle destruction wrought by foul, abusive, blasphemous, profane or bawdy language in the media is significant. Such language destroys respect for the wonder of bodily functions and the sanctity of sex.
It brings God and all things sacred down to our level (or lower) and leaves nothing of high regard. It translates into more vile and vicious expressions of anger in interpersonal relationships.
Most destructive, the commonness of this language in media makes it seem common and acceptable in society at large -- which it isn't. When one is on the receiving end of such language, it reduces one's self-respect dramatically.
The greater the volume of TV-watching, the greater the potential for families -- even subconsciously -- to imitate the abusive language used. It's no mystery then that teachers are facing kids with unprintable language and increasingly battered self-images.
Now if we can just find a contemporary equivalent to washing the mouths of a whole industry out with soap!
