Public hearings planned on future of Test Site

The U.S. Department of Energy is eager for public comment at three hearings on the future use of the Nevada Test Site.
The draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Test Site will be explored from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Cashman Field Center, 850 Las Vegas Boulevard North at Washington Avenue. The comment period for this EIS ends May 3.
Joint meetings on stockpile stewardship and management and storing and disposing of nuclear weapons will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday and repeated from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
The joint meetings are set for the Sands Expo and Convention Center, 201 East Sands Ave.
For those arriving at the Sands after 5 p.m. Thursday, there will be no parking charge. But Friday there is a $6 per car charge. For free parking alternatives call 702-295-3996.
