Learn to sing and dance with the Roadsters
Thursday, March 21, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
The program, sponsored by Clark County Parks and Recreation, will be held from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Cashman Middle School on 10 consecutive Wednesdays, starting March 27.
The last session, June 5, will be a talent showcase where the children will perform the songs and dances they have learned.
Ragtime Roadsters is an alternative for youths who are at risk of involvement in substance abuse and gang activity. The program teaches skill development, self-discipline and stage presence. Now in its second year, the program is funded by a grant from the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
Instructors include dance teacher Angel Lewis and singer-songwriter Manny De Los Santos.
Lewis has a master's degree in dance from UNLV, where she is an adjunct faculty member. She teaches for the city of Las Vegas and Clark County. She is also on the roster of the Nevada State Council on the Arts residency program.
De los Santos is a vocalist who has recorded an album with the Martin Denny Orchestra. In Hawaii, he appeared at the Hilton Hawaiian Village with Don Ho. In Las Vegas, he performed with a Hawaiian revue at the Lady Luck Casino.
The program is free, but early registration is advised. Call 455-8200.
