In a fight police are calling "very bizarre," a Las Vegas bounty hunter's ear was bitten off just before he shot his tenant to death.
David Allen Broyles, 26, was killed by 29-year-old Dennis Kieren during an argument over money just after midnight today, said Metro Police homicide Sgt. Bill Keeton.
Kieren, 29, began arguing with Broyles, who rented a room from Kieren in his 2828 Mt. Hope home, Keeton said. Kieren had asked Broyles to move out and claimed that Broyles owed him back rent money, police said.
The argument turned into a fist fight in the living room, Keeton said. Broyles at one point held a large survival-type knife at Kieren's throat, Keeton said. During the fight, Broyles bit off the top half of Kieren's ear.
Kieren grabbed a 9 mm handgun and shot Broyles twice, Keeton said.
Police are submitting the case to the district attorney's office for possible prosecution, Keeton said.
