Grand Casino helped competition

More than 40,000 visited the Grand, the country's third largest casino, on Monday when it opened. The overflow crowd apparently also hit the other nine dockside casinos in Tunica County.
"Business Monday was very, very good, like a typical weekend," Bally's general manager Peter Burns said. "If the Grand opening is responsible for that type of day I hope they open up every day of the week."
Karen Sock, top official at the original Harrah's boat in Tunica, said business was up 15 percent Monday. Tuesday also was busier than normal, "clearly more business than we would have ordinarily had," she said.
