WLV man dies in alleged drug crime
Tuesday, June 18, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
A West Las Vegas man was shot to death in what Metro Police are calling a drug-related crime.
Police were called at 10:45 p.m. Monday to an apartment at 203 George Place, near Owens Avenue and E Street. Officers found the unidentified victim inside, shot in the head.
Homicide Lt. Larry Spinosa said witnesses told police they saw a car cruise by the residence, then park. One man, described as Hispanic, in his 20s and wearing a plaid shirt, got out of the car, walked up to the apartment and went inside just before shots were heard by neighbors. The suspect then was seen running to the waiting vehicle that had three other passengers inside.
Detectives believe robbery and narcotics were involved, Spinosa said.
The getaway vehicle was described as a light blue compact car with a missing headlight and body damage to the right rear panel.
Police are asking anyone with information to call homicide at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
