Letter: Clinton position on dolphin protection unreliable
Tuesday, June 18, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
As Gale says, these are "bad bills." They would allow dolphin-deadly tuna back into U.S. markets. They would make a mockery of the "dolphin safe" label by allowing companies to use that label as long as no dolphins are observed being killed, and thus perpetuate a fraud on the public.
Perhaps President Clinton has changed his mind in the time between when I received my response and he made that statement to Gale. For the sake of the dolphins, I sure hope so.
