Feud arises over school zone
Tuesday, June 18, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
"I am opposed to calling every place on a road within three miles of a school a school zone," transportation department District Engineer Chris Beck told the White Pine County Commission.
He added that the speed limit on U.S. 93 through McGill already is 25 mph and the school is three blocks away, the Ely Daily Times reported.
But the school district's director of operations, John Lampros, told the county school board the limit is necessary because children have been killed crossing the highway.
