Friday, June 14, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy today to determine what killed a man whose body was found in a ditch in northwest Las Vegas.

Metro Police officers were sent to the 8500 block of North Buffalo Drive near Farm Road at 5:53 p.m. Thursday after a caller reported finding the corpse in the desert area.

Investigators believe the white male possibly in his 40s had been in the remote desert area about a week. He was described as having salt and pepper hair, and was wearing a blue button-down pin-striped shirt, blue jeans, brown cowboy boots, and a white baseball cap with a California Angels emblem on it.

Anyone with information on the man's identity is asked to call the homicide section at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
