School Superintendent Keeps Promise, Gets Hair Buzzed

Cram lost his locks at Hair Today in keeping a promise he made at the school-to-work conference held April 25. The student, Carla Utzman, even showed up to help do the duty.
While at the conference, Cram was inspired by the story of Carla, a student in Southern Nevada Vocational Technical Center's automotive technician program. Carla is spending the summer as an apprentice at a Las Vegas car dealer and credits the program with turning her away from drugs.
"I'm here to make a pledge that the day Carla appears on the front page of the newspaper instead of a picture of some gang banger, I'll get my hair shaved off," Cram vowed at the conference.
On July 6, the Las Vegas Review-Journal ran a story about Carla after business leaders brought the matter to the attention of editors.
Cram said he fears his new look will frighten children, but he hopes to use a baseball cap to help his image.
