Friday, July 12, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
The soccer clinic, 8 a.m. to noon at Sam Boyd Stadium, 7000 E. Russell Road, will be led by the Games soccer co-chairmen Jeff Pagen and Salvador Rosales. Helping them will be UNLV's head soccer coach, Barry Barto, his coaching staff and many current Rebel soccer players.
The second part of the clinic is July 20 when participants will be placed on teams and will play twice in a noncompetitive tournament.
The soccer clinic will also feature a kick center and other attractions provided by Snickers, the national sponsor of US Youth Soccer. Snickers is also providing the balls to be used by participants at the clinic.
Also on Saturday, the Games will conduct a volleyball clinic from 9 a.m.-noon at Rancho High school, 1900 E. Owens.
Players will return July 20 to participate in a noncompetitive style tournament. The 300 participants who are expected to attend the clinic will be led by volleyball chairman John Henderson and many local volunteers.
The Greater Las Vegas Inner-City Games is for all Las Vegas area children between the ages of 7 and 17.
Preliminary competitions begin Aug. 10.
