The shooting death of a 15-year-old girl and the stabbing of a 14-year-old girl have left police with few leads to their assailants, said Metro Police homicide Sgt. Kevin Manning.
The unidentified 14-year-old was in fair condition today at University Medical Center.
Detectives attempted to interview the girl Monday, but she was heavily sedated and could describe the assailants only as "guys," Manning said.
"We have no age, no color, nothing," he said. "We have a 14-year-old girl who essentially is not able to tell us anything."
Detectives hoped the girl would be more coherent today and better able to answer questions, he said.
The 14-year-old ran for help to an apartment at 1933 Alwill St., near Rancho and Vegas drives, at 6:41 a.m. Monday, Manning said.
Officers went to an apartment across the alley where the 14-year-old had been stabbed. Inside the vacant unit at 1932 Cindysue St., they found the body of the 15-year-old girl.
Dania Rickermann of Las Vegas was dead at the scene from gunshot wounds to her upper body.
Despite comments by neighbors, Manning said he didn't have information leading him to believe the crimes were gang-related.
