Students reap awards

According to Wanda Mitchell, chairwoman of American History Essay Competition for Francisco Garces Chapter NSDAR, Timothy's essay, "Explorers in America -- Meriwether Lewis and William Clark," has been sent to NSDAR in Washington, D.C., for the national competition. The winning essay will be announced in April.
Carleen Hall's "Explorers in America -- Juan Ponce de Leon" came in second in the local competition. Chad Didas' essay on Lewis and Clark came in third in local. Both are seventh-graders at Roy Martin.
Timothy will be honored at the Nevada State NSDAR Conference Saturday and Sunday at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, 4255 Paradise Road. Also, he is to receive an NSDAR Award at his school's May awards assembly.
