Lied presents a journey to the Philippines
Friday, Dec. 20, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
Visitors are invited to enjoy a program of Philippine Christmas traditions, including dances, crafts, food sampling and a fashion show on Saturday at the Lied Discovery Children's Museum, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Activities kick off at noon with a presentation of dozens of "parol," paper lanterns that are hung in the windows of Philippine homes at Christmas. A "sipa" toy-making activity will also be presented.
Samplings of traditional foods will be offered throughout the afternoon.
The highlight of a celebration will be a performance of the "tinikling," a dance that combines long poles and nimble footwork. A fashion show and an awards presentation complete the day's activities.
