Black Book deletes Civella
Friday, Dec. 20, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
The Nevada Gaming Commission voted Thursday to delete Civella's name -- taking the same action a predecessor commission took years ago after Carl's brother, Nick, another "black book" member, died in 1983.
While the Civella brothers, who once ran Kansas City's crime hierarchy, are out of the book, Carl's son Anthony has been nominated for inclusion in the document.
The State Gaming Control Board recommended last July that Anthony Civella be listed. The reputed mobster was recently released from a federal prison in Texas, after serving four years for fraud.
He also was adjudged guilty in 1975 of illegal bookmaking, and in 1984 for holding hidden casino interests and skimming in Las Vegas, and for taking part in a murder conspiracy.
