‘American Superstars’ move up at Stratosphere Tower
Friday, Dec. 20, 1996 | 3:43 a.m.
Performing nightly (except Thursdays) at 7 and 10, "American Superstars" has five featured acts that do interpretations of America's favorite entertainers, backed up by a seven-piece band.
The new show features the addition of singer/entertainer "Marvelous Marva" Scott performing as Diana Ross with the Supremes.
Former lead singer of the Stardust hotel-casino's "Enter the Night" show and a favorite performer on the Strip, Scott recently debuted a compact disc called "Torch," featuring show songs from "Enter the Night" and other favorites.
The rest of "Superstars" features performances by singing and dancing sesation Damian Brantley as the hyper-kinetic Michael Jackson, vocalist Danielle Lopez as Gloria Estefan, 11-year Nevada State Fiddle Champion Johnny Potash as Charlie Daniels, and fiery singer/actress Coty Alexander as Madonna. The show is complemented by the expertly executed and choreographed dancing of the Superstar Dancers, talented performers in their own right.
As an added attraction, "Second Wind's Tribute to the Temptations," led by Gregg Austin, will join the show for a one-month engagement beginning Jan. 3, featuring Motown classics such as "Papa Was a Rolling Stone," "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," "Just My Imagination" and "My Girl."
Tickets for the "American Superstars" show in the Broadway Showroom are $22.95 including tax, and may be purchased at any Stratosphere ticket counter. Cocktails and beverages may be purchased optionally outside the showroom at the Broadway Showroom bar.
