Las Vegas is honoring Dr. Jerry Cade as its first "Citizen of the Month," for his work in treating AIDS patients in Southern Nevada.
Cade, a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, was to be honored at 10 a.m. today at City Hall. Cade treated Nevada's first AIDS patient in the early 1980s, and spearheaded the creation of University Medical Center's AIDS ward and an AIDS hospice.
Cade's name, and the name of future citizens of the month, will appear on a sign at City Hall and be featured on "City Beat," the city's bi-weekly cable television show.
