Pruett recall effort in Jeopardy

Backers of the recall drive said they have more than 3,000 of the 5,898 signatures needed to force a recall election. But with a week to go, their time was running out.
Pat Hintz, president of the recall committee, said members would meet on Wednesday and decide whether to continue the effort. The recall would only continue if organizers feel they can secure the required signatures.
Pruett came under fire in October when she referred to police officers who showed up at a City Council meeting to support Police Chief Jim Weston as "thugs" and "ruffians."
"If we don't make it, I won't go around with Kleenex in my hand," Hintz said.
"If we don't make it, the voters will just have to sit back and wait until she does something worse. If we don't succeed this time, it doesn't mean there won't be a recall in the future."
