Longtime LV resident Waite dies at 78

Eleanor Leavitt Waite, who lived in Las Vegas for 46 years and worked as a beautician, has died of cancer in St. George, Utah. She was 78.

Waite was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Bunkerville and raised there as the 12th of 13 children.

She married Floyd LeRoy Waite in 1937 at the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They moved to Las Vegas, where she helped her husband in the Bon Marche Beauty Salon. They moved to St. George in 1982.

Waite was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various organizations and as a temple ordinance worker with her husband in the St. George Temple for eight years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and two daughters, Geraldene (William) Bushnell of Virginia, Dennis Leroy (Patricia) Waite of Tooele, Utah, David (Pamella) Waite of Alaska, and Linda Joy (Paul) Christensen of Washington, Utah; two sisters, Amy Jacobson of Fallon and Ethel Leavitt of Bunkerville; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services are set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. George LDS Stake Center, 591 W. 500 North. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
