Hoedown set for Fremont Experience
Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
The hoedown, the unofficial kickoff party of the National Finals Rodeo, is 6 to 10:30 tonight. The public is invited free.
BlackHawk, whose high-powered music has brought them to the forefront of today's country scene, will headline the event. Opening for them is Big House out of Bakersfield, Calif., which produced country music legends Merle Haggard and Buck Owens.
Also performing will be cowboy balladeer Don Edwards, cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell and "The Bootleggers," a local line dance group.
NFR contestants will be on hand to greet guests and give autographs. Miss Rodeo America and the 1997 contestants will be introduced and will also be available for autographs.
There will be a country western barbecue. And every hour on the hour, the Fremont Street Experience's light and sound show will entertain guests with more than 2 million lights and 540,000 watts of sound.
The hoedown is sponsored by Las Vegas Events, Coca Cola, Jack Daniels, Bud Light, KFM-102 and Copenhagen.
