George has no regrets
Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
Hey, when you've burned bridges in Indianapolis and Atlanta and turned down a reported $30 million to play for Seattle, you tend to have plenty of free time on your hands.
George, sitting on the front row at a recent Atlanta Hawks game along with former Falcon teammates Eric Metcalf and Craig Heyward, insists that he has no regrets about putting his NFL career on hold for a year.
"It's tough. Obviously I miss it. Especially on Saturdays and Sunday, it's hard for me to watch the football games," George said. "But I'll be back out there. Where, I don't know yet. But the drive is there and stronger than ever. I just can't wait to get back on the field and produce."
Most teams have made it clear they want no part of George, who abandoned Indianapolis in 1994 for reasons never fully explained and was waived by the Falcons this season after a heated sideline dispute with coach June Jones.
