Nevadans to Get Break on December Nevada Bell Phone Bills
Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996 | 11:59 a.m.
Under the settlement sought by the advocate, part of the attorney general's office, Nevada Bell will refund $11.8 million - or about $46 for each of the nearly 255,000 access lines serving thousands of business and residential customers throughout northern Nevada.
"Some customers will see their entire December bill wiped out," said Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa.
The one-time credits were approved by the state Public Service Commission in August as a way to erase excess earnings by Nevada Bell. In addition to the credits, $800,000 in excess earnings will be used for rural improvement and extension projects.
