Rapist fears spur prowler calls

Metro Police are getting more reports than usual about prowlers, including some from worried kids in eastern valley neighborhoods where a rapist has attacked girls.
"We've had some concerned kids and prowler calls," said Lt. Brad Simpson of the sexual assault detail. "One was from a teenager who called in saying he heard a noise in his backyard."
Police welcome the calls, he said.
"Until the leads that we're following turn into suspects, we need all the information we can get," Simpson said.
Police are looking for more information about two rapists, one who has molested and sodomized young boys in western valley neighborhoods and another who has sexually assaulted young girls primarily on the east side.
More calls are coming in as police blanket neighborhoods with fliers in a campaign to warn parents not to leave their children alone.
"We're getting calls referencing both neighborhoods," Simpson said.
