Key budget items

Here are some of the key new items in the $1.6 billion public school budget adopted by the State Board of Education:

* $14.9 MILLION -- To allow schools to complete third-grade class-size reduction or allow the districts to use the money for improvements in the primary grades. Also $648,000 for a full scale evaluation on the class-size reduction program.

* $75.7 MILLION -- Over two years to finance 3 1/2-percent pay raises for teachers in each of the years.

* $8 MILLION -- To pay for full-day kindergarten for at-risk children.

* $600,000 -- To divide among public broadcasting stations in Nevada, up from the present $300,000.
